What is the Patio Oasis(PO)?

  • The Patio Oasis is a one-of-a-kind outdoor dining event venue located in a private backyard in Pleasant Hill, CA. It is the home of two well loved local pizza businesses:  Chicks and Love Pizza 2009 and Queen of Crusts 2019.  This is where food, community, and creativity come together.

 

  • In 2024, Chef Kellie Joe made history as the first person in Contra Costa County to receive a Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation (MEHKO) permit, officially paving the way for legal, chef-led dining experiences in a home setting.

What goes on at the Patio Oasis?

  • The Patio Oasis hosts intimate and memorable experiences, including:

    • Curated outdoor dine-in experiences e.g. Pizza By The Pond

    • Chef Pop-Ups and Collaborations

    • Hands-on Cooking Classes and Chef Demonstrations

    • Backyard Farm Workshops

    • Kids Interactive Pizza Parties

    • Community gatherings

Are the PO Experiences open to the public?

  • No. We welcome people that we know or personally invite and warm referrals.  

  • For those who don’t know The Chicks, we offer a Waitlist Application process with a chance to be invited. There are no guarantees.

  • All guests are thoughtfully vetted to help maintain a relaxed, respectful, atmosphere where Chef Kellie feels comfortable in her own backyard.​

What's the address of the Patio Oasis?

You'll receive the address after you complete the Reservation Procotol.  The Patio Oasis is located near Lunardis grocery store in the Palos Verdes Shopping Center, Walnut Creek.

Are kids and dogs allowed?

  • It will vary, depending on the type of experience

  • There are Chef Kellie's dogs, chickens and our koi fish pond to consider.

  • If the child is exceptionally well behaved, and the parent supervised with a hawk's eye, they are welcomed. Parents will need to agree to our Kids Rules.

What is the Pizza By The Pond (PBTP) Experience?

  • Pizza By The Pond is a 3-hour, 4-course private dining immersive experience with you, your guests and Chef Kellie. There is an optional garden tour and tableside cooking demonstrations. The prix fixed meal includes salad, garlic noodles, pizzas, gelato and warm cookies out of the pizza oven. 

  • You and your guests are dining next to an 8,000 gallon Japanese koi fish pond and waterfalls.  It's a backyard micro farm with an organic garden, bee hives, chickens and fruit trees.

  • It’s lunch or dinner and a show, with Chef Kellie as your host, entertainer, and private chef.

How much is the PBTP Experience?  

  • $65 per person not including tax and tip. 

How many guests can you accommodate for PBTP?

  • The sweet spot is 3–6 guests. 

  • Reservations for 2 guests are limited to Tues-Thur lunch or dinner.  Ask about our Weekend Standby List for Two.

  • Groups of 8-18 guests will be served buffet style

  • Groups of 15-20 guests require a $5 per person venue use fee.

  • More than 20 guests become a venue rental at $125 per hour.  

What's on the PBTP Menu? It's MORE than pizza!

The Full Experience set menu consists of:

  • Sampler of 3 garden-crafted mocktails- including Blue Dream, Lands End Lemonade & Purple Haze.

  • Organic Queen's House Salad- Multi-Ingredients

  • Chef KJ's Signature Garlic Noodles

  • Variety of pizzas- You'll choose the pizzas for your group

  • Locally made Gelato two flavors & toppings (Al Mare Gelato Italiano)

  • Handmade Hot Cookies (Karen’s Cookie Kitchen SF & That Kookie)

  • The 4 courses are served Family Style (shared).  For groups of 8 or more, food will be served Buffet Style.(Guests serve themselves at the buffet table.)​

Can you accommodate dietary needs?

  • We offer meat, vegetarian, Gluten Free and Dairy Free options. 

  • Vegan by special request. 

  • Garlic Noodles have oyster sauce & fish sauce, parmesan & butter. (It's not easy, be we can make Gluten Free & Vegan options on request.)

What if I just want pizza....and nothing else?

  • Order from Queen of Crusts and bake it yourself at home.

  • If you personally know Chef Kellie and you've already experienced the PBTP, you can request just a no frills pizza experience.

  • Get on the mailing list to find out about exclusive Pizza Parties at the Patio.

What's on the Beverage Menu?

  • We are the first MEHKO in California with a Beer and Wine license.

  • We offer local canned beer and wine by the bottle. 

  • You can BYOB Beer and Wine for $5/ guest.  Hard liquor is not allowed!!

  • We offer handcrafted mocktails, specialty teas including chai tea, specialty sodas, espresso, sparkling water

  • Bring your own water bottles.  We don’t serve water.  

How does the weather affect us?

  • As an outdoor venue, we keep an eye on the weather prior to your reservation date. 

  • Guests need to dress for the Pleasant Hill weather.

  • RAIN: Parties of 8 or less is a non issue.  9 guests can be cozy tight but we’ve done it! For parties of 10+, we will need to reschedule.

  • COLD: Our guests are comfortable in our heated gazebo with overhead heaters, fire pit, portable heater and outdoor blankets.  It’s a cozy vibe.

  • HEAT:  We suggest making a reservation with weather below 85 degrees or when the sun goes down. For larger parties, we have sun umbrellas.

How do I make a Reservation?  

You will need to follow our Reservation Process:

  1. Pick a DATE & TIME that works for Chef Kellie.  Book at least 1 month in advance for larger parties.

  2. The Host communicates by email with Chef Kellie.  The process may take up to 2 weeks

  3. Guest Reservation Form - Includes your guest list, dietary needs, #of cars, occasion etc.  

  4. Hold Harmless Agreement- Guests 18+ must sign an online waiver. 

  5. Pre-Order Food & Drinks- order your pizza choices and any extra beverages and add-ons.

  6. Pre-Pay- Venmo or Zelle.  Gratuity is paid after service.

  7. Confirm Logistics- Address, parking, safety guidelines, dress attire, pets
